Bobby Eugene Wise

April 21, 1944 - February 11, 2025

Bobby Eugene Wise, 80, of Anchorage, AK, passed peacefully at the Anchorage Pioneer Home on February 11, 2025 at 10:06 a.m. His wife Gerda was with him during his last moments. Bobby was born on April 21, 1944, to Leo and Juanita Griffin Wise in Texarkana, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Wise and Juanita Griffin Wise; and his sisters, Leonita Wise and Margaret Alexander. He is survived by his wife, Gerda Klause Wise; sister, Linda Miller of Biloxi, MS; son, Troy (Annette) Wise of Palmer, AK; and daughters, Tammy (Scott) Briggs of Glennallen, Tonya (Mark) Dickerson of Anchorage, AK, Evelyn (James) Newhouse of Anchorage, AK, and Melanie (Russell) Arnolds of Anchorage, AK. He has 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

The Wise family first came to Eagle River, AK, in June 1954. As a child he enjoyed singing and playing the guitar in church with his sisters. He graduated from East High School and joined the US Navy. Unfortunately, his time serving his country was cut short due to a medical discharge. He found himself back in Alaska working for the Alaska Railroad as a plumber before starting his own business, Wise Plumbing & Heating. His company afforded him and Gerda opportunities to work together, while exploring and enjoying remote Alaska. Their favorite job was in Petersburg, where they met many lifelong friends and enjoyed fishing together.

Bobby loved singing and playing his guitar. He could always be found singing, whether he was at home, work or at karaoke. He delighted his wife Gerda with his songs and danced with her on every occasion. He had many friends with whom he enjoyed spending time at bars, laughing and celebrating together. Bobby enjoyed life, liked to have a beer with his friends, and always had a joke ready.

He loved Jesus Christ and spending time with his family. Bobby will be greatly missed by all.
