Bobby Wayne Day

Bobby Wayne Day, 56, died March 6, 2012, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer. He died of a pulmonary embolism.

He was born March 5, 1956, in San Angelo, Texas. He was in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1977. He lived at Fort Greely and Fort Wainwright in 1975.

He lived in Anchorage from 1977 to 1983. He worked at Safeway as a night stocker from 1977 to 1978. He worked at the Post Office as a letter carrier from 1979 to 1981. He then worked as a research assistant for UTMB from 1988 to 1990. In 1991 as an offshore observer.

His hobbies included fly-fishing, gardening, photography, spelunking, climbing, backpacking and kayaking.

The U.S. Army brought Bobby to Alaska. Bobby lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed hiking and backpacking in the wilds of Alaska. Bobby left Alaska for a short while to get his bachelor’s of science degree from Texas A&M University.

After the birth of his daughter, he moved back to Alaska. Bobby lived his life to the fullest until he started having back pain. Bobby spent his free time tying flies and making homebrew. For the past 21 years, Bobby delivered mail in Wasilla.

Bobby is loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all.

Surviving are his wife, Janet Day; daughter, Brandi Day; parents, Bob and Joyce Day; sisters, Freda Day and Thea Griffin; nephews, Jerry and Nicholas Griffin and Jonathan Day; and his extended family in Texas.
