Wasilla resident, Brad William Jenks, 42, died, Dec. 11, 2010, at his home.

A celebration of life service for Brad is 11 a.m., Dec. 18 at the Valley Funeral Home Chapel, 151 E. Herning Ave. in Wasilla, with burial to follow at Wasilla-Aurora cemetery.

Brad was born Jan. 25, 1968, in Anchorage to Bob and Mickey Jenks. He moved to Wasilla in 1971 with his family. He attended Wasilla area schools and graduated from Wasilla High School in 1985.

He was employed by McDonalds Corp., and then Alaska Railroad. He was a talented auto mechanic and auto body technician. He left the railroad to start his own body shop business, and he enjoyed his work immensely.

Brad also loved to hunt and fish and being in the outdoors. His hidden talent was his love for cooking. He was a very talented cook, and his family enjoyed his efforts. Sitting around a good campfire with family and friends was a pleasure in his life. Brad was known to be a prankster and a person who enjoyed interacting and being around family and friends.

His mother Willie Lou “Mickey” Jenks preceded him in death.

Brad is survived by his daughter, Shelby Jo Morehead 17, of Wamego, Kan.; his father, Bobby L. Jenks Sr.; and dear friend, Jonalynn Helminiak of Wasilla; sisters Sharon (Ronnie) Bell of Wasilla and Beverly (David) Shumake of Oklahoma City; brothers Bobby (Pollyanna) Jenks and Kenneth (Sarah) Jenks of Wasilla. He also leaves many caring cousins, nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

“We all will miss Brad dearly,” the family wrote.
