Brenda Joyce Lords-Christensen (Dyke), a beacon of spirited joy and adventurous courage, passed away on May 10, 2025, in Anchorage, Alaska. Born in Ellensburg, Washington on March 2, 1954, Brenda's vibrant spirit and loving nature touched the lives of all who knew her. Her final years were spent courageously facing the challenges presented by extensive injuries from a past car accident, a testament to her unwavering resilience.

Brenda's life was a rich tapestry woven with love for her family, her work, and the simple pleasures of life. She leaves behind a loving fiancé, Jeff, who stood by her side through life's ebbs and flows. Her children, Michelle, Victor, and Joseph, will forever cherish the strength and dedication she exhibited. Brenda's joy multiplied with the birth of each grandchild, and she embraced every moment she had to love and nurture them.

Her siblings, Shirley Wadkins of Lusk, Wyoming; Laurel Hertel of Washougal, Washington; Linda Johnston of Franklin, West Virginia; John Dyke of Forest Grove, Oregon; and James Dyke of Gresham, Oregon, will remember Brenda as a brave Alaskan. Her spirit will live on through the countless stories and memories shared by her many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lola Dyke of Hillsboro, OR, her sister Leola Graf and her son, Brandon.

After graduating from high school in her home state of Washington, Brenda channeled her entrepreneurial spirit into the culinary world. She found her calling in serving others as the owner of Brenda's Butte Cafe, and then through the operation of multiple other kitchens and restaurants and her Coffee Cabin. She poured her heart into every business she touched, creating not just eateries but gathering places where the community came together.

Brenda's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. Whether she was sharing a pot of coffee during a visit with friends and family, playing darts, rummy or cribbage, sewing a new quilt, or working on a carpentry project, she did so with a genuine smile and contentment. Her love for the natural beauty of the Matanuska Valley and Hatcher Pass was profound, and she often found peace and inspiration in the Alaskan wilderness.

Those who knew Brenda would say she had a special ability to find happiness in her daily activities. She was a woman who never stopped working and persevering, always striving to help and uplift those around her. Her dedication to her family was unwavering, and her actions spoke volumes of her love and commitment. She loved the Lord and had faith she would be with Him again through her personal relationship with Him.

Brenda's life was a journey of exploration and bravery. She approached every day with a spirit that was infectious, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered. Her legacy is one of love, hard work, and the courage to face life's challenges head-on.

As we bid farewell to Brenda Lords-Christensen, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a life that exemplified the very essence of spirit, adventure, and courage. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her. Brenda's story does not end here; it lives on through the love she gave and the lives she touched.

Brenda's graveside service will be at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
