Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Brenda Lee Cunningham, 71, died Nov. 3 at home in Houston.
Visitation and a funeral service will be today beginning at 6 p.m., at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel, 1015 S. Check St., in Wasilla. Burial with graveside service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.
Brenda was born July 11, 1938, in Anna, Ill. She came to Alaska from Illinois in 2003. She had been employed as a cook at various restaurants, and lived on and helped operate a dairy farm. Her hobbies and special interests were her family, gardening and quilting.
Her family said: “She loved her family and being in Alaska. She will be dearly missed.”
Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Donithan, and sons, Mitch, Morris, Matt and Monte Donithan, all of Illinois; son, Mark Donithan Sr., of Houston; brothers, Bill and Clifford Young of Illinois; grandson, Mark Donithan Jr. of Houston; her closest friend, Mary Bernal, and other friend, Frances Cagle of Alaska.
