Memorial services for Wasilla resident Brian Alan Schmidt, 44, are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel in Wasilla.
Brian died Oct.18, 2010, in Anchorage. He was born on June 16, 1966, in Tacoma, Wash.
He worked as a diesel mechanic and a supervisor for N.C. Machinery Power Generation for 20 years. He enjoyed snowmachining, cooking special meals for family and friends and was a practical joker and enjoyed life.
According to his family, “He was always a friend to a friend, a shoulder you could always lean on. He had a big heart and was always giving and never expected anything in return.”
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lucille Schmidt; grandpa, John Schmidt; and his uncle, Joe Kraus.
He is survived by his daughter, Danika Schmidt of Roy, Wash.; father, Glen Schmidt of Las Cruces, N.M.; mother, Kathy Schmidt of Bend, Ore.; sister, Laurie Whittaker of Las Cruces; his companion, Heidi Hansen of Wasilla; and his lifelong friend, Jeff Alan of Anchorage.
Memorial contributions may be directed to his beloved daughter, Danika Schmidt.
