Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Anchorage resident Brice Richard Montgomery, 32, died at his home due to congestive heart failure on June 20, 2012. A public visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., June 25, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 545 W. 8th Ave., Anchorage. Father Norman Elliot will officiate at services to follow at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers include Tony Waddell, Ken Warren, Richard Waldeck, Bryant Waldeck, JD Miller and Patsy Marston. Honorary pallbearers include “Little K-4” Warren, Matthew Evan Jr., Lloyd Marston, Amanda Ward, Dan Golden, Mike Golden III, Dale Evan Sr., Dale Evan Jr., John Buckingham, Christen Warren, Thomas Albert, Samual Kanayurak and Bud James Kanayurak. Following the service, a covered-dish potluck will be served downstairs at the parish hall.
Brice was born at Providence Medical Center in Seattle, Wash., on Dec. 25, 1979, to Dinah Marie Burk and Michael Montgomery. He attended Swanson Elementary, Colony Middle School in Palmer and was then home schooled for high school.
Brice was a loyal friend. He loved the beach and having campfires in Kenai. He enjoyed Rollerblading and downhill skiing, he loved his job, music and movies.
He was well known for his passion for all things “Star Wars” since he was a young child, and he has always loved Lego blocks.
His mom wrote, “Brice was the best thing that ever happened to me. He was my life. He was my special Christmas gift. He was a well-loved child who grew to be a loving and caring man.”
Surviving are his mother, Dinah Marie (Albert) Burk; mother’s longtime partner, Tony Waddell; great-aunts, Anne Golden and Nancy Evan Holman; cousins, Dan and Mike Golden, Michelle Lamborn, Patsy Marston, Bryant, Richard Waldeck, John A. Buckingham, Jenny Davis, Thomas Albert, Samual Kanayurak, Jim Arey, Bud James Kanayurak, Dale Evan Jr., Melissa Evan, William Henry Jr., Francine, Kathryn Henry, Joanne Friemering and John Michael Friemering; aunts, Flora Kokrine-Demoski, Judith Butler, Patricia Buckingham, Virginia Charlie, Francis Nollner, Edna Silva and Rexanne Wheeler; and uncles, Donald Buckingham, Donald Charlie, Matthew Evan, George Albert, Dale Evans Sr., George Wheeler and Jorge Silva.
Preceding him in death was his father, Michael Montgomery; maternal grandparents, Tom and Dinah Albert; and great-grandma, Abby Silas, daughter of Chief Thomas of Nenana.
