The colorful life of Wasilla resident Calvin Rocquemore came to a peaceful close at age 83 on Sunday, April 30, 2017. He entered the presence of his Lord while receiving excellent care at Two Sisters Too Assisted Living Home in Palmer, Alaska.
Calvin was born July 19, 1933, in Butler, Georgia, to John and Leila (Hicks) Rocquemore. He spent much of his life in Ohio, having moved to Alaska in the 80's. Calvin served many people in the multiple service positions he held throughout his life. He had a love for acting, poetry, his family and friends, and his church.
Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Thomas-Rocquemore, his parents, his older brother Morris Rocquemore, and his younger brother Marcus Rocquemore.
He is survived by his younger siblings Juanita Rocquemore Perry, Anthony (Tony) Rocquemore, Jerome Rocquemore, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Calvin was laid to rest at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery on May 4, 2017.
Honorary pallbearers were Byron Slough, David Mason, Dylan Jacobs, Tim and Alex Sandson, Dan Sissel, Rod Shultz, and Gerald Snoozy.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Calvin's church, Farm Loop Christian Center, 5900 N. Farm Loop in Palmer, Alaska.
