Carl was born to John and Peggy Covey on December 7, 1952. He was a smart and likable redheaded child. He left Fairbanks in 1971 to discover America, as he liked to say. He attended the Skill Center in Seward to learn to build houses, but wound up using his skills as an auto mechanic. He worked at Autocraft Tune Up Center when he met Karin Fish Doisher and her four children. He thought we were an adorable family and gave love a chance. It takes a brave man to raise another man's children, but he 'interviewed' for the position, with Little River Band blaring in the background. We found love and married at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Chugiak in 1981. We found our way to Wasilla in 1982 and settled on Howling Wolf Lane where we raised our large family. We built our home as a family with dividend checks and had wonderful adventures and experiences with our kids. He was a kind and loving man with a great sense of humor which he shared willingly with all who knew him. His family adored him. He worked at Charlie Brown's Chevron for a while in Palmer and then at Car Care Inc on the Parks Highway. He tuned up countless automobiles and he worked on boats as well. Customers loved him. Co-workers loved him. Kids loved him. He whistled while he worked and felt obliged to joke with all. He did a crossword puzzles daily and cared for his aging mother lovingly. He was a smart man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.

Carl was proceeded in death by his son Jason Carl Covey and daughter Sara Good Haase and his mother Peggy. He is survived by his father John Covey, brothers Paul and Frank, sisters Karen Peterson and Candace Robbekke, wife Karin, sons Bobby, Eli and Aaron Doisher and daughters Karla Douthit, Carmen and Cara Covey. He had 24 grandchildren and four greatgrands. So many called him Uncle Red. We were all blessed by knowing him.

The family is planning a celebration of life this weekend July 25, 26 with a balloon ceremony at 3:00 on Saturday. Folks are invited to stop by at their convenience anytime all weekend long. John Covey and surviving family will be at 400 E Howling Wolf Lane, bring love.
