Carl Stephen Daniels, 80, passed away on May 27, 2014, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage surrounded by his family.

Carl was born on Aug. 23, 1933, to Herbert and Katherine (Mayer) Daniels in Petoskey, Michigan. After high school, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army Airborne during the Korean War. After his service, he married Rae Ann Matthews on Feb. 11, 1956. They had seven children. He worked as a steeplejack for Hunts Roofing, making him a very fearless man. In 1972, Carl came to Alaska to help build the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. After the passing of his beloved wife Rae Ann in 1978, he returned to Alaska and worked for a construction company before starting his own business, Daniels and Son’s Roofing. Later, Carl became a resident of Palmer, where he spent the rest of his days with his family that he loved and loved him.

Carl spent his time in Alaska fishing, hunting and enjoying the outdoors. He loved riding his lawnmower and making his yard look better than his neighbors’. Carl’s favorite thing was to spend time with family and play with his grandchildren.

Our father will forever be missed. He was a kind, fun-loving man who until his last days took care of us even as we grew into adulthood. He was our teacher, provider, and most of all, our friend. We love you Dad and you will be forever in our hearts.

Surviving are his children, Katherine Daniels, Stephen Daniels, Allan and Sheri Daniels, Tamara and Alan Duntley, Michael and Andrea Daniels, Scott and Vanessa Daniels, Raymond and Michelle Daniels; 13 grandchildren, Karl, Chastity, Richard, Tyler, Jessica, Steven, Logan, Raymond, Travis-Ray, Kaile, Nicholas, Matthew, and Landon; five great grandchildren, Jason, Hannah, Trevor, Laurna and Winter with a sixth expected in November; his siblings, Maggie Skiver, Tom Daniels, Chuck Daniels, Mary Riley, Edna Shaw, and Norm Daniels; and many nieces and nephews.
