A beautiful human being, wife, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and best friend, Carol Ann Kerkove Hull, went to meet Jesus from her home in Wasilla, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015. She was 72 years old. Her service will be held at Palmer Pentecostal Church, 235 Albrecht Ave., Palmer, Alaska, on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m., with a celebration of life following downstairs. Officiating will be Pastor Ron Herring. At 4:30 p.m., a funeral procession for family and close friends will commence to the Sacred Heart Cemetery, 513 W. Edlund Road, Wasilla, where her body will be laid to rest.
Carol was born in Glendale, California, on Feb. 12, 1943. Her family relocated to Minnesota shortly after and made a final move to Alaska in 1952, when Carol was 9. She later met Edward D. Hull at a small family party where they danced together for the very first time. They married on Aug. 10, 1959, and celebrated 56 years of marriage. They had four of their six children in Anchorage before making a final move to the Hull family homestead in Wasilla, where they raised six children alongside Carol’s sister Jane and Ed’s brother Ron, who raised four children of their own. Their kids were not only double cousins, but best friends to Carol’s children.
There are many things to say about Carol, but what her husband, kids and grandkids really want you to know is she was compassion personified. We could walk into the room in sorrow and she would comfort like no one else could. When celebrating an accomplishment, no one but her would show enthusiasm that exceeded our own. She was selfless beyond any human being we know, she would give of herself without a second thought, and never behaved as a martyr. For her, it was just what a mother does.
She was a servant above all servants; of God, of her husband, of her children, and others she held dear. She was sweet spirited and merciful, seeing the very best in people. She was kind to all people and even God’s creatures. She taught us to let spiders outside, save earthworms from rain puddles in her amazing garden and greenhouse, and love each other and our neighbor deeply. She was gracious and loving beyond measure. There is not a soul on Earth who loved us more earnestly or steadfastly. She cared deeply about others, her family and friends, and even strangers. She was patient and enduring, even to those who wronged her. She was beautiful on the exterior, and that beauty sprung from within.
Our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend is survived by many who loved her dearly and love her still: Her husband, Edward Hull, of Wasilla; her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Janelle Hull, Quint Hull, and Stacey and Misty Hull, of Wasilla and Palmer; her daughters, Brenda Hull of North Carolina, Wendy Wissler and Heather Hull-Seims, both of Wasilla; her grandchildren, Trevor, Andrew, Shelby and Austin Hull, Justin and Hailey Wissler, and Mackenzie and Christian Seims; and numerous great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Voliva of Anchorage, and her parents, Alfred Lewis and Evelyn Mae Kerkove of Anchorage.
Mom’s favorite flowers were carnations which epitomize her spirit: beautiful, yet practical. If you wish to send flowers, the family will be ever grateful. However, an account has been set up through http://www.gofundme.com/3f4a3v3w to assist multiple family members who are currently facing Polycystic Kidney Disease, the same disease which ultimately claimed Carol’s life.
