Carol Anne Aversion

Age 63, passed away on December 15thin Palmer, Alaska.

Born April 11, 1955 in Visalia, California to William and Harriet Barton. Carol graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1973. Following her strong sense of adventure, she found herself in Montana, welcoming her first child April, in 1981. Two years later the independent woman embarked on her greatest adventure yet, when she decided to move to Alaska. Soon after her arrival, she began a successful 33-year career with Waddell and Reed as a Financial Advisor. She enjoyed helping people meet their financial goals and built lifelong friendships. In 1985 Carol had her second child, Xan.

In the coming years as an Alaskan resident Carol established herself as a pillar in the community, where she poured her love and compassion into everything she touched. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, board member of many associations, and a volunteer for multiple non-profits. Many people will remember her unmistakable “voice”, heard at many events, from ski bus to scouting. Carol was known to have never met a stranger.

While Hatcher Pass was her favorite, she loved all of Alaska. When Carol was not working, she had a tremendous passion for the outdoors and traveling the world. She was an avid skier, hiker and climber, who loved to dance and play the piano. As a natural born leader, she was genuine, compassionate, and a “hoot” to top it off. Carol’s mantra was work hard and play hard.

Carol was known for her honesty and kindness. She had the ability to tell people what needed to be said in a way they were able to hear. Totally inoffensive, and always with great affection.

Carol is survived by her parents, Bill & Harriet: her siblings, Barbara, Marilyn and James: her children April and Xan: her granddaughters, Aly, Charley & Taylor: her partner Bernard: and many close Friends.

Carol’s celebration of life will be at 6pm January 11th, 2019 in the Raven Hall at the Alaska State Fairgrounds. She will be there in spirit with a Nalgene in one hand and a mug in the other.
