Carol Anne Kuhn

Palmer resident, Carol Anne Kuhn, 61, passed peacefully at her home on Feb. 25 after a long battle with kidney cancer. Her husband and daughters were at her side. Services will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Palmer on Wednesday with a gathering at 9:30 a.m., Rosary at 10:30 a.m., and funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Her nephew, Father Aaron Kuhn, of Minnesota, will officiate along with Father Tom Brundage of St. Michaels Parish.

Carol was born Dec. 24, 1948, at Ft. Richardson. She was a 1966 graduate of East Anchorage High School. She married Leon Kuhn in 1967 and lived in the Palmer area ever since. After retiring from the Mat-Su School District in 1997, she and her husband enjoyed the “snowbird lifestyle” in Yuma, Ariz.

She was a talented homemaker, a volunteer EMT on Palmer Ambulance for many years; she was active in her church and community and always there for her family. She had a love for sewing and making quilts for her family and friends.

Her family wrote, “She was an avid quilter and an energetic woman who loved her family and dedicated her life to serving her community, church, family and friends.”

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Leon Kuhn of Palmer; her four daughters: Lisa Bowman (David) of Palmer. Lori Evers (David), of Forest Grove, Ore., Tanya Smith (Bernard), of Wasilla and Karen Kuhn, of Anchorage. Her mother Marian Wagers, of Anchorage, her brothers, Alan Wagers of Anchorage, and Chris Wagers of Puyallup, Wash., and 12 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Steven, Kaylen, Kristen, Katy, Kassidy Bowman, of Palmer. Zack, Eric, and Nick Evers of Forest Grove, Ore. Grant, Brandon and Vanessa Smith of Wasilla.

She is preceded in death by her father Msgt. Willard Wagers and grandson Austin Evers.
