Carol Lynn Harmon-Hoskins

Carol Lynn Harmon-Hoskins

Carol Lynn Harmon-Hoskins passed away May 11, 2010, in the presence of her children at Providence Alaska Medical Center. She was 58 years old.

A celebration of life will be held at her home at 2034 Inner Springer Loop in Palmer. The celebration will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Look for the yellow balloons. It will be a Carol-style party, so bring your favorite dish, drink and a lounging chair.

Carol was born Jan. 7, 1952, to George and Florence Harden in Ottawa, Ill., where she was raised. In 1970, she married Jim Harmon and went on to have four children while living in Illinois near her family. In 1982, the family moved to Alaska, where one more child was born. In 1995 she met her life’s love, Jerry Hoskins, and in 1998 they were married. She loved Alaska and was happy here.

She loved to fish and sit around campfires. She loved the beauty of the Matanuska Valley and the small town life Palmer offered. She developed many, many close relationships over the years and many considered her a true friend, some even considered her to be their mom. She worked in the restaurant business for years and loved it. She had been at Pizzeria Delphi for nearly a decade. She was a great socializer and experienced great joy from talking and gossiping with both friends and strangers. She was the kind of person you could sit with and chat for hours, about nothing at all. And she was funny.

Carol was fortunate to have all of her children near and to be able to have strong, close and loving relationships with them. She liked to travel and went on yearly family cruises with her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, friends and children. She loved the beach and the bright, glittery casinos. Carol lived her life to the very fullest. She thoroughly enjoyed her time here and tried to set an example of love, patience, integrity and generosity for her family, which she, without a doubt, succeeded in.

Carol is survived by her loving husband Jerry Hoskins and her adoring children Heather (Chris) Kaplan, Brandy Harmon, Josey (Cristy) Harmon, Arron (Jeremy) Rogers and Jessica Harmon. “Mom” to her children, she was a generous, kind and unconditionally loving mother.

Carol is also survived by four grandchildren, Ben and Olivia Kaplan and Caiden and Dawson Harmon and two not yet born grandchildren (Romeo Paulino and Bella Harmon). “Grandma” was the ultimate spoiler and meant everything to her grandchildren, and they meant everything to her. She was overjoyed to have them and they will forever be better people for having experienced her love and patience.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Lyle and Dennis, and a number of close friends and relatives.

Arrangements were entrusted to Legacy Funeral Homes-Kehl’s Palmer Chapel.
