Carol T. Tisdel, 92, died Jan. 6, 2014, at Elaine’s Place Assisted Living Home in Anchorage of natural causes.

Carol was born Sept. 19, 1921, to E. Clayton and Annie L. (Wolverton) Tisdel. She was born and raised in Painesville, Ohio. She graduated from Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio in 1943. She married Fred W. Tisdel Jr. on July 1, 1943, and they made their first home in Portland, Ore., where Fred was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District.

In 1951, he was transferred to the Anchorage District and they made Anchorage their home until 1977. From 1965 to 1977, Carol worked for the city of Anchorage at Loussac Library (downtown location) and the state of Alaska at the law library. They retired to Roswell, N.M., and later to Las Cruces, N.M. They enjoyed traveling, attending Elderhostels, and Hi Neighbors guided trips. After Fred died in 2002, Carol moved to Tennessee to be with a daughter and son-in-law. In 2006, she moved back to Alaska permanently to be with a daughter and son-in-law and her son and daughter-in-law.

Surviving are daughters, Mary (Sid) Music of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Evelyn (Larry) Bentti of Palmer; son, Edward (Marcia) Tisdel of Anchorage; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

At her request, her ashes will be scattered near Fred’s on the Bentti property.
