Caroline Catherine (Csaszar) Keuler, 85, of Wasilla, passed July 12, 2015, at her home from pulmonary fibrosis under Hospice care surrounded by loved ones.

Caroline was born March 15, 1930, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Theresa (Talaber) Csaszar. She was the eighth of nine children.

Caroline is survived by her children, Sharon (James “Dave”) Painter of Canby, Oregon, Valerie Castleman of Mesa, Arizona, Cindy Keuler of Anchorage, Alaska, Patricia (Douglas) Goentzel of Anchorage, Jeffrey Keuler of Wasilla, Kenneth (Paulette) Keuler of Wasilla; grandsons, (Daniel, Matthew, Brian (Ashleigh) and Andrew Fortune; Ryan (Renee) and Brandon (Rachel) Goentzel); and seven great grandchildren.

In recent years, Caroline was a greeter at Walmart, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1953, when she and former husband Donald moved to Alaska with the U.S. Air Force. Caroline and her family then spent 22 years stationed at various bases in the U.S. and abroad before settling in Alaska in 1976.

Caroline enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, puzzles and pretty much any board game with her family. Some of her fondest memories were spent laughing and reminiscing during many family gatherings. Caroline enjoyed driving cross country with her family to visit Donald’s parents; Arthur and Agatha Keuler, brothers-in-law, Arthur “Gunner” Keuler, Robert Keuler and their families in Wisconsin.

Caroline will be most remembered for her sharp wit and tell-it-like-it-is attitude. Many people who knew her well compared her personality to that of the TV character “Maude” played by Bea Arthur.

At Caroline's request, a private family memorial was held at her home in Wasilla.
