Care Tuk, Occupational Therapist (retired), local author of two memoirs and longtime advocate of disability outreach and cancer survivorship, is finally at rest.
She passed away March 29, 2025 under the tender, professional care of the skilled nurses and aide staff of Matsu Regional Hospital in Palmer, Alaska and the hospice team of Ancora.
At long last, she is reunited with her husband Bill Tuk (January 30, 1954 - January 31, 2023) and her daughter, Jamie Marie (Tuk) Casey (May 25, 1979 - June 24, 2019). Having received her first cancer diagnosis at age 19, Care set in her mind to encourage, mentor, inspire and uplift the people that crossed her path over the next 50 years. "Never Quit," and "No Regrets," were two mottos that her spirit embraced, and her faith was anchored by the simple objective found in the Book of Matthew, verses 6:25-34.
There is no easy way to define her legacy in mere words. But it lives on and is carried out by her son Tim Tuk, son-in-law Jeff Casey and her grandkids, Scott and Samantha, and her siblings Patti, DeeDee and Bob, and their families down in Washington.
In her memory, Care has asked that anything done or donated in her honor be something like a memorial tree (she planted several in Israel via the Jewish National Fund), or a donation to a disability ministry of your choosing.
A Celebration of Life is being planned, details forthcoming. Email care@caretuk.com or visit www.caretuk.com for when service details become known.
