On Monday July 10th, 2023, Carrie Lee Phillips, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior. Carrie was born on July 23, 1956, to Robert & Cathryn Zentmire in Seward, Alaska. She was proud to be born & raised in Alaska. She lived through the historic Alaska 9.2 magnitude earthquake in 1964. Her writing about her family's experience during the earthquake is even hanging in the Seward Museum. She moved out of Seward after meeting the love of her life, Ernie Phillips. They were married on August 25, 1974, and went on to have seven beautiful boys.
God, faith, & family were everything to Carrie. While living in the Mat-Su Valley, she attended Glad Tidings Full Gospel Church. In 2013, after 20 years of service, she retired from the Matanuska Susitna School District. Carrie & Ernie moved to Idaho in the spring of 2014. She enjoyed the milder weather and warm summers. She loved visiting the zoo when her grandkids would visit and especially liked the butterfly exhibit. She loved taking walks in the evening with Ernie around the pond behind their home in Nampa. They moved to Tennessee in 2021 for several months to join in fellowship with Kent & Candy Christmas at their church, Regeneration Nashville. They returned to Idaho in April 2022 to be closer to family.
Carrie loved all holidays, but especially Christmas. She collected Hallmark ornaments and Christmas trees. She had so many decorations that she had to put up five Christmas trees to showcase all her decorations. She started decorating in early November and didn't take them down until well into February. When springtime came, she was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed all the different kinds of birds that would visit her feeders. She also loved plants and gardening.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Carol Freeman, and two of her sons, EJ and Kaz. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernie Phillips, her sons Clint (Angela) Phillips, Isaiah Phillips, Chad (Bree) Phillips, Gabe (Carissa) Phillips, & Jadon (Bethany Wynn) Phillips, and her six grandchildren, and just recently her 1st great grandson. As well as her sisters, Candy, Christy, & Cathy, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
