Carroll Dean Carroll, 73, of Talkeetna passed away Oct. 18, 2013, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer. Services are at 1 p.m., Nov. 2 at the Upper Susitna Senior Center in Talkeetna.

Carroll was born June 6, 1940, in Little Rock, Ark. In 1970, she moved to Alaska. She resided in Juneau, Fairbanks, Anchorage and most recently in Talkeetna. Carroll worked at the Anchorage Sheraton Hotel and the Egan Center in the hospitality industry. She also loved her work at the Talkeetna Historical Society.

Carroll was a Master Gardener and loved experimenting and growing new plants. She was an avid quilter and made many beautiful items for her family and community. She spent her last years as a volunteer for the Upper Susitna Food Pantry, Filling the Gap and Sober Rides.

Carroll was a friend to all and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and community.

Carroll was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Dean and Norma Jean Hardin.

Carroll is survived by a brother, Jeffery Hardin of Arkansas; sisters, Annette Aley, Mary Baker, Linda Kay Johnson and Letha Fullbright, all of Arkansas; daughter, LouAnne Carroll of Alaska; sons, Kevin Carroll of Arizona and David Carroll of Alaska; granddaughters, Heather Christiansen of Alaska and Erin Carroll of Arizona; grandsons, David Harrison and Carlos Chavesta of Alaska, Brandon and Sean Carroll of Arizona, and Kevin Wise, USAF, Colorado; numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel, cared for arrangements.
