Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Cecil Vaughan Wilson, 85, died Oct. 3 at St. John Hospital in Longview, Washington.
He was born Feb. 7, 1929, in Sacramento, California, to Cecil A. and Wilma A. Vaughan Wilson. He served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. He worked in road construction in the Territory of Alaska, served as a lieutenant with the Anchorage Fire Department, and retired from Airglas Engineering in Anchorage. He and his wife retired to Washington because he wouldn’t “have to shovel rain,” he said.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria J. Wilson; daughters, Kay Hoff, Vicky (Eliud) Delgado and Kellee Wilson; sons, Sam (Jackie) Carson, Joe (Holly) Carson, and David (Theresa) Wilson; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carol (Ed) Carney and Phyllis Wilson.
Preceding him in death was his brother, Dick L. Wilson.
Memorial donations in his name may be sent to the Wasilla Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2101 Lucille Street, Wasilla, AK 99654-3803.
Private family services will be held. His ashes will interred in the Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.
