Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Celia Iris Heath passed into the loving arms of her Lord on August 13, 2015, at Mat Su Regional
Hospital, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Celia was born to Antonio St. Luise and Elsie Mae Swanson on March 14, 1936, in Chelan, Washington. She was the middle child of five children. Celia attended grades K-12 in Chelan. After graduation, Celia attended Seattle Bible Training School where she learned to love The Scriptures and to serve the Lord.
She was employed at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle and then went to Olympia, Washington, where she worked for the Board of Prison Terms and Parole.
In 1960, Celia traveled to Fairbanks with her uncle. There she worked for the Fairbanks Civil Service. She met and married Eugene Heath in 1965. They traveled all over the country with his job. They were divorced in 1991.
Celia traveled around Alaska and worked at many jobs. She settled in Lazy Mountain area for about 30 years. In early 2000, Celia started her house/ pet sitting business. She loved her fur babies and was much in demand.
Celia loved the Lord. One of her favorite verses was “1 Peter 5:7”. To many, she is remembered as the “accordion lady” and as the “lady who wore the joyful, fun hats”.
She loved music and playing at many churches and other events. She had many friends, loved doing puzzles and studying her Bible.
Celia is survived by her family; Kathy and Denny Purviance and family, Carol and Al Doner, Lisa Dahl, Amy Henry, and Bob and Alma Wright. She also leaves many precious fur babies.

Celia’s celebration of life will be on Friday, August 21, at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, located at 900 Leatherleaf Loop in Wasilla. Pastor Stephen Shrimplin, FBC, Wasilla, and Pastor Mike Balos, Cross Country Church, Wasilla, will conduct her service. A reception will follow.
