Charlene Sue Harris, 25, of Anchorage left us way too early in life. She got off work in Fairbanks and decided to surprise her family, pets and her loving boyfriend, Ben Hendrickson, with a visit home. She was in a rollover accident, down an embankment at Mile 325 Parks Highway, just south of Fairbanks. We believe she swerved to avoid hitting an animal, and we think she passed away on Aug. 18, 2017, not Aug. 22, 2017, when her brother and sister found her vehicle.

Charlene was born and raised in Alaska, attending Snowshoe Elementary, Wasilla Middle, and Hanshew Middle in Anchorage, and graduating from Service High, including two years of ROTC training. She began her carpentry career and was an apprentice belonging to Carpenters Local Union 1281. She has just achieved Journeyman, but never received the news. Charlene worked high up on scaffolding, and at several power plants. Sometimes she worked out of town in Minnesota, Juneau and Healy. Her final job was in Fairbanks. She was lovingly called Red by several of the guys; her brothers and sisters in the Union treated her with great respect.

She was all about her pets. Charlene and her dog Snoopy took some mushing lessons together and loved it. She moved to Anchorage became best friends with Cassie, whose family treated her as family for almost 15 years. She loved Gary and Sandra Palmer, Auka and the brothers. She called them mom and dad, brothers and sister. They called her daughter and sister.

She is survived by her mother, Cheryl Peterson, a very heartbroken sister and brother Rhonda Harris and Chris Harris and nephew Brendan Nelson, all of the Big Lake area, Father, Chuck Hudson of Talkeetna, Great Aunt Sharon Irons Perry, Uncle Ray Saiki and cousins Dennis & Shawna Saiki of California, Aunts and Uncle, MaryBeth Harris, Ron & Trudy Harris, cousins Ryan and Michael Harris all of Oregon. She was preceded in death by grandparents Bill & Cathy Harris of Anchorage.

There will be no services at this time, but there will be a Celebration of Life in another month or two for family and all friends. Contact information, Cheryl Peterson cherylp@mtaonline.net Arrangements entrusted to Legacy Funeral Homes, Wasilla Chapel.
