It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Augustus Bruno, 79, of Wasilla, Alaska. Chuck passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving children on September 14, 2020.

Chuck was born on August 13, 1941 in Albuquerque, NM. Soon after, his family moved to Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from Belmont High School in 1959, then served in the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged in 1967.

His work in the Title Insurance industry transferred him to Anchorage, AK in 1979 to manage his own office. Shortly after he moved to Wasilla, AK when he was given the opportunity to purchase a small, struggling Title Insurance Co. With his remarkable business sense, dedication, and wonderful employees, he quickly turned it into a successful business, one he was very proud of. Chuck owned and operated Mat-Su Title Insurance Agency, Inc. and enjoyed serving the Mat-Su Valley for over 20 years, retiring in 2001.

Chuck was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a humble, kind, and compassionate man. He touched many lives, in many ways. He was a snowbird and an avid golfer, spending winters in Arizona. He was a proud grandpa to Hunter, Lexie, and Chase, and was their biggest supporter in all they did. Chuck was a member of the Sacred Heart Parrish in Wasilla, AK and All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ. He was loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents George and Esther Bruno and his oldest sister Marlene Doyle. He is survived by his children Kristin Schachle (Mike Schachle), of Wasilla, AK; Sarah Ann Hildebrand (Ronnie Hildebrand), of Wasilla, AK; and his grandchildren Hunter Schachle, of Wasilla, AK; Alexandra Linn, of Indio, CA; and Chase Schachle, of Wasilla, AK; along with his siblings Esther Palanco, of Pico River, CA; June Carpenter, of El Segundo, CA; Gilbert Bruno of Winchester, CA; Glenn Bruno of Tujunga, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
