Charles “Chuck” Donald Jones

Longtime Wasilla resident, Charles “Chuck” Donald Jones, 54, died Feb. 15, 2011, in the Philippines.

Memorial services are at 1 p.m., March 26, at the Alcantra Armory, 3501 East Bogard Road in Wasilla. Chaplain Richard Koch will officiate. The National Guard Honor Guard will perform military honors. His cremated remains will be inurned at Fort Richardson National Cemetery and scattered at Mount Drum in the Wrangell Mountains at a later date.

Charles was born June 6, 1956, to Raymond Jones Sr. and Joycelyn Jones in Utica, N.Y. He graduated from Rubidoux High School in Riverside, Calif., in 1975. Charles joined the U.S. Army in 1975 and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and then transferred to Anchorage in 1977. He then entered the Alaska Army National Guard in 1985, from which he retired in 2002. Charles lived in Nome from 1986 to 1989, then moved to Wasilla, where he resided since.

He was the owner/operator of Chuck’s Lock and Key Service. Charles enjoyed baseball, bowling, locksmithing and bull riding. He often joked around and called himself “Honest Chuck.”

His mother, Joycelyn Jones followed Charles in death March 6, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Jones Sr., in 1971; and brother, Kenneth Jones in 1951.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Jones of Wasilla; son, Charles Dwyer of Wasilla; daughter, April Dwyer of Wasilla; son, Cory Jones of Wasilla; granddaughters, Angel Dwyer and Tezlyn Kerrone of Wasilla; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Rick Rethaford of Spanaway Wash., Cindy and Keith Simpson of Cibolo, Texas, and Edith and Scott Hunt of Portsmouth, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Daisy Jones of Riverside, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Dicky and Melvin Leonard of Anchorage, Bobby Leonard of Chitina and Gene Clark of Chugiak; sisters-in-law, Joyce Clark of Chugiak and Maggie Rider of Anchorage; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and other extended family members.

Local arrangements were by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory.
