Willow resident Charles “Chuck” Herold, 83, died Jan. 13, 2013.
Chuck was born in Lefor, N.D., Oct. 31, 1929, to Peter and Anna Herold.
Chuck served in the U.S. Army and moved to Alaska in 1946. He loved the Last Frontier. Chuck helped build the trans-Alaska Pipeline and later worked as a heavy equipment operator for the local 302 Union and was known for being a “master mechanic.”
Surviving are his siblings Shirley and (Jack) Sorteberg, Helen and (Darrol) Klein andRay and (Marianne) Herold; daughters Luwana Witzleban, Noelle Herold, Michelle Cloutier; and his son, Christopher Herold.
At his request, no funeral services are planned. According to his wishes, his cremated remains and will be spread over his property.
