Big Lake resident Charles D. Backlin, 68, died Dec. 7, 2010, in Anchorage.
A celebration of life service is at 2 p.m., Dec. 14, 2010, at Valley Funeral Home Chapel, 151 E. Herning Ave. in Wasilla.
Charles was born April 17, 1942, in Portland, Ore. and moved to Alaska in 1990. He served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war on the USS Bennington. He enjoyed meeting people and helping everyone he met; his family said he never met a stranger and worked as a customer service representative in the home building industry. He loved woodworking and being outdoors where he enjoyed working in the yard and fishing and camping. He will be loved and missed by his family and friends.
Chuck as he was known to his family and friends is survived by his daughters Laurie (Cameron) Fisher, Teressa and Jacqueline; sons Chuck (Stephanie) and Steven. He is also survived by granddaughters Aubree and Breanna and grandsons Landon and Nick; Son in Law Tommy Garrigan, his brother Leonard and wife Linda; nephews Lief, and Ryan and his wife Sheryl and great niece Leeanna.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linda.
The family suggests memorials be made to your favorite charity in his memory.
Arrangements were by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory Wasilla.
