Charles E. “Charlie” Clark, 79, of the Butte in Palmer, Alaska passed away at home on October 28, 2020.

Charlie was born on September 13, 1941 in Greenridge, MO where he attended school until his father passed away when he was 11. He quit school to work and help support the family. One of his first jobs was with the Royal Crown Bottling Co. He also worked for a spell for McGlauphin’s Furniture before his neighbor got him into the electrical trade.

Charlie started working for L.E. Meyers as an outside lineman and then joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) in 1965 of which he remained a loyal and faithful member for 55 years. Charlie worked the trade in every state except Florida and Hawaii, he even worked for a time restoring power in Jamaica following hurricane Hugo.

Charlie first came to work the trade in Alaska in 1972 where he met his future wife Kathryn Langman. Alaska kept calling him back and he made it his permanent home in 1981. While gambling in Reno, NV, Charlie and Kathryn took another gamble and were married Easter Sunday, April 7, 1985.

Charlie is known mostly for his big heart and willingness to help others, as well as his wild and fun nature. He left a lasting impression on all who knew him and was known by many names – Charlie, Chuck, Pop and Grandpa.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathryn Langman-Clark of Palmer AK; his sons, Kevin Clark (wife Dawn Baker), Casey Clark of Palmer, AK, Carl Clark and Shannon Clark of Littleton, CO; his granddaughters, Jamie Clark and Tiffany Mayer of Palmer, AK; his grandsons, Dustin Clark of Palmer, AK, Dylan Clark of Littleton, CO and James Clark of Sedalia, MO; his great grandsons, Jack Clark, Hunter Clark and Kilian Clark of Palmer, AK. He is also survived by Jamie and Dustin’s mother, Stephanie Clark of Palm Bay, FL.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Helen Clark; his sisters, Willie Sue Clark and Betty Baker; and his brothers, Alan, Robert, James and Ronald Clark.

A celebration of life will be held at The Moose Lodge 420 W. Fern Ave. in Palmer, AK on Saturday November 28, 2020 starting at 3:00 pm. Arrangements are with Janssen’s Mat-Su Funeral Home Palmer, AK.
