Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Charles Gustave Steinhilpert Sr. of Houston, 66, died June 18, 2011, at his home in Houston.
Services are at 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 24, at Fort Richardson National Cemetery with a tribute of Military Honors.
He was born June 21, 1944, in Superior, Wisc., to Fritz and Philomena (Fournier) Steinhilpert. He graduated from Northwood High School in 1962. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman from 1962-65 during the Vietnam War.
He married Ramona Butler in December 1966 in Anchorage. He retired from self-employment as a professional window washer in 1988. He had lived in Alaska for 47 years. In retirement, he enjoyed scrimshaw, woodcarving, landscaping and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie (Trevis) of Wasilla; daughter, Wanda (David) of Houston; son, Charles Jr. (Ada) of Anchorage; grandchildren, Joseph and Briana of Wasilla, Wayne Jr., Wanetta and David of Houston, Athena, and Charles III, Cameron and Amber of Anchorage; one brother, Fred, and one sister, Shirley, of Phoenix, Ariz.; nieces, Susie of Minneapolis, Minn., Yovette of Anchorage, Paula of Grants Pass, Ore, Pam of Denver, Colo., and Cindy of Minnetonka, Minn.; and nephew, Tom of Ashland, Ore.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Ramona, and his parents.
Arrangements were by the Cremation Society of Alaska.
