Charles Norman Miller Sr., 79, passed away Jan. 14, 2014, at Elmendorf Hospital, Anchorage.
Celebration of life in honor of Charles is at 1 p.m., Jan. 23 at Manna Independent Baptist Church, 10151 E. Palmer-Wasilla Highway in Palmer. Pastor Doug Ferrett will officiate.
Charles was born June 26, 1934, in Woodsboro, Md., to Norman and Margaret Miller. Charles was a high school graduate.
Charles served in the U.S. Air Force. He settled in Alaska in 1973, living in the Wasilla-Meadow Lakes area.
Charles served as pastor of the Bible Church of Houston and had a great love for studying the Bible and ministering to others. He also loved to fish and spend time with his eight grandchildren. Charles also loved bird watching and travelling around Alaska sightseeing.
He never knew a stranger; they became family. He was always willing to help those in need and always offered good advice. He will never be forgotten and will remain with us in our hearts forever.
Charles is survived by a son, Charles N. Miller Jr.; Melissa D. Clouse, granddaughter; Mya, great-granddaughter; Rayna, great-granddaughter; Chad N. Miller, grandson; Amira, great-granddaughter; Linda A. Miller, daughter; Cathy A. Poppert, daughter; Jamie E. Fugate, granddaughter; Christopher A. Poppert, grandson; Abbygale, great-granddaughter; Able, great-grandson; Michael L. Poppert, grandson; Elsie, great-granddaughter; Eden, great-granddaughter; Brittney A. Poppert, granddaughter; Amilea, great-granddaughter; brothers Thomas and Everlee Miller of Walkersville, Md.; Doug and Phyllis Miller of Hellam, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his brother, James Miller; his wife of 55 years, Elsie Ellen Miller; and many brothers and sisters in Christ.
Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel cared for arrangements.
