After watering, her dinnerplate dahlias, Charolet Lorain Nelson passed away, peacefully in her sleep on July 3, 2023.
Charolet Lorain Nelson was born on September 13, 1934 in Seldovia, Alaska to Verlie (Crouch) and Otto Nelson. The family were replacement colonists in the Mat-Su Valley.
She was preceded in death by her father, Otto (1947), mother, Verlie (1991), brother, Johnny, (1941), sister, Lavon, (2012), brother, “Wild Bill”, (2004), step-father, John Hornung, (1981), twin brothers, Peter and James, (1950), brother, Richard Hornung, (2012) and step-daughter, Laurie Keller, (2022).
Survivors are sister Carolyn Baragar of Idaho and sister-in-law’s, Christine Hornung of Tennessee, Betty Nelson of Washington, and Alicia Totaro of California, sons, Caleb Aldeman, Charles and Kathy Aldeman, daughter, Charla Lee, step children, Tim Voelk, Cathy Miller, Mark Voelk of Texas and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Charolet was a homemaker…a self-made woman!! There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. Waitress, ambulance crewmember, seamstress, upholsterer, florist, wedding consultant, elaborate cake designer, gardener, painter, and artist. She was extremely talented.
Recently, she was accepted into the Pioneers of Alaska.
A celebration of life will be at the VFW 9365 in Wasilla Alaska on September 30, 2023 at 2 o’clock.
