CHERIE ANN BURCH

Wasilla and former long-time Kodiak resident Cherie Ann Burch passed away Sept. 1, 2008 in her Wasilla home. At her request, no services will be held.

Burch was born July 4, 1926, in Cordova to William and Molly Ried. Burch married Oral Burch on Nov. 24, 1946. Both were long-time residents in Kodiak. Burch moved to the city of Wasilla in 2000.

She is survived by daughters Donna (Larry) Buettner of Wasilla and Dorothy Craig of Bellingham, Wash.; brother Wally Reid of Vancouver, Wash.; granddaughter Sharon Nelson with children Robert (Tami) Nelson, Jeremy (Amy) Nelson, Matt and Dakota of Kodiak; grandson Ryan (Tamra) Nelson with children Daniel and Kaylee Ann of Anchorage; grandson Sean (Angela) Lund with children Wessley, Kelseay, Lindsey and Carson of Wasilla; grandson Kyle (Connie) Bergo with children Colton, Kyle Jr., Haley and Gunnar of Anchorage; brother-in-law Al (Barb) Burch with children Bill and Keith of Kodiak; granddaughter Lizbeth with child Steven of Washington; granddaughter Lisa (Dave) Oliveria with children Shealynn and Cole of Pensacola, Fla.; grandson Dyton Gilliland of Florida; grandson Scott (Linda) Gilliland with children Terri and Tyler of Homer; grandson Curt (Kristen) Buettner with child Taylor of Wasilla; granddaughter Wendy (Mike) Reed with child Shon of Wasilla; and granddaughter Denise (Mark) Lovell with children Chantel and Ty of Wasilla.

She was preceeded in death by husband, Oral, on Nov. 22, 1990, grandson Kerry Nelson; great-grandson Justin Nelson; granddaughter Lynn Gilliland; brothers Bill Reid and Wayne Gilmore; sister Maxine Gilmore; and stepfather Tom Gilmore, whom she loved and admired so much.

“She was a one-of-a-kind lady who touched everyone’s life in a unique and special way,” her family wrote. “She will forever be remembered and loved by her family and friends. We miss you.”
