Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Chris Marvin Williams, 74, died May 4, 2013.
He was born Dec. 29, 1938, in Bend, Ore., to Ruth and Fawn Williams.
Chris started working at family owned Williams Tire Service. Other employment included Oregon National Guard, United Parcel Service, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Department and Purcell Services.
In 1970, while with Deschutes County Sheriff’s Department, he started the Search and Rescue program, which is still operating today.
In 1982, Chris and Vivian relocated to Alaska. He was employed in security services at Prudhoe Bay for 29 years.
Chris was Alaska State Director of Good Sam RV club and, with Vivian, enjoyed many trips.
Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Ronald. Survivors include Vivian (his wife of 38 years); brother, Terry; son, Craig; four grandchildren; aunts; and cousins.
A memorial service will be held May 18 at 1 p.m. at Matanuska Assembly of God, 12801 W. Arctic Ave., Palmer. A reception follows. Another memorial service to be held later in Bend, Ore.
