Christine Virginia Fritz Browning, 87, died Aug. 10, 2011, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer.

Christine was born Dec. 31, 1923, in Merchantville, N.J., to Truman and Esther Fritz. She came to Alaska Nov. 1, 2010, to live near her daughters.

Christine graduated high school in Merchantville, N.J., class of 1941. She went on to get her bachelor’s degree in science in 1980, from the University of San Francisco. She had also obtained an associate of arts degree from Vallejo Junior College in Vallejo, Calif., in 1961.

She was an Associate Fellow, Society for Technical Communication and past president of the Silicon Valley Chapter Society for Technical Communication.

Christine enjoyed playing the piano, traveling the world and writing. In her younger years, she was an accomplished gymnast. She was the author of the book “Guide to Effective Software Technical Writing” (Prentice Hall, 1984).

According to her family, Christine was an amazing parent, raising three children as a single mom while achieving great success in the professional world as a software technical writer. She was passionate about the importance of education and inspired all three to earn college degrees. She was an example of ambition, courage, honesty and morality in every aspect of her life.

Her generosity was profound, always ready to help make life better for her children and grandchildren. In recent years, she delighted in providing gymnastics for her granddaughters, reliving her youthful passion for the sport through their achievements.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Christine is survived by her daughters, Caren della Cioppa of Palmer and Evelyn Sizemore of Wasilla; grandson, Nicholas della Cioppa of Venice, Calif.; and granddaughters, Ariel, Amber and Angelena Sizemore of Wasilla.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her son, Guy della Cioppa.

At her request her ashes will be scattered in Alaska, California and New Jersey.

Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory in Wasilla cared for the family.
