The Chugiak Mustangs stormed to the girls varsity team title during the George Plumley Invitational cross-country running meet Sept. 10 at Palmer High School.
Chugiak finished with 44 total points in the girls team standings, well ahead of runner-up South Anchorage (87) and third-place Colony (128).
Campbell Peterson continued her stellar senior season for the Mustangs, winning the girls race with a time of 19 minutes, 27 seconds. Peterson also has wins at the Ted McKenney Invitational in Soldotna and the Big 8 Invite in Anchorage.
Fellow senior Addison Capozzi also posted a top-5 finish, placing third with a time of 19:57. Alliyah Fields (15th), Petra Knox (17th), Emily Moore (19th), Kiley Dennis (21st) and Allison Macy (23rd) also finished in the top 25 for the Mustangs.
Henry Michner led Eagle River with a seventh-place finish and time of 16:58 in the boys race. Ava Trembath was 14th with a time of 20:43 to lead the Eagle River girls.
Owen Hayes led the Chugiak boys with a time of 18:30.
