Clara Meyers

Former Valley resident Clara Ann Meyers, 75, died of lung cancer Dec.15, 2007.

At her request there will be no services.

Meyers was born in Crow Agency, Mont., on Dec. 26, 1931. She moved to Alaska in 1965 and lived in Big Lake, Houston and Anchorage. She worked at the Dorothy G. Page Museum from 1980 until her retirement in 1997.

Meyers received two Gold Pan Awards from the Wasilla/Knik/Willow Creek Historical Society for outstanding service. She enjoyed gardening, stained glass, cooking, fine wine and dining and travel. She was strong, bright, adventurous and unpredictable. She took her first flight on a motorized hang glider at the age of 67.

Meyers is survived by daughters Debbie (Brian) Leach, and Billie Buckingham; grandsons Derek and Kevin Pease; brother John Pease; sister Eldah Captain; and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by daughter and son-in-law Carol and John S. Pease; sister Virginia Buckingham; and brother Bud Pease.

Donations may be sent in her name to Hospice of Anchorage, 500 West International Airport Road, Suite C, Anchorage, AK 99518.

Arrangements are with Evergreen Memorial Chapel of Anchorage.
