Longtime Palmer resident Clarence Furbush, 83, passed away Oct. 11, 2014 at Two Sisters Assisted Living Home in Wasilla.
Clarence spent four years in the U.S. Navy before he married his wife, Carolyn in 1955. They moved to Alaska in 1968. Clarence was the proud father of seven children, 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
He worked for the U.S. Government Soil Conservation as a soil scientist for 24 years and volunteered as a firefighter for the Palmer Fire Department for 16 years.
Clarence enjoyed being outside for moose hunting, fishing, and snowmachining to their remote cabin. He enjoyed talking to people about gold mining, rock hunting, affordable housing, and he very much enjoyed politicking.
Clarence was preceded in death by a son, Paul Furbush; his wife, Carolyn Furbush; and son, John Furbush.
A memorial service is at 1 p.m., Oct. 25 at Kehl’s Funeral Home in Palmer with a potluck to follow at the Palmer Fire Department training tower, 645 E. Cope Industrial Way, Palmer.
