Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Claudia Hutchison, 66, died Nov. 2 at Providence Medical Center in Anchorage. She passed away after a courageous battle against a long-term illness.
Services were held Nov. 10 at the Church on the Rock in Wasilla. Gary Osthout officiated.
Claudia was born Dec. 25, 1942 in Downey, Calif. She attended Poly High School in Riverside, Calif., and moved to Anchorage in 1965. She lived in Anchorage from 1965-1971 and then moved to Eagle River where she lived until 1985 when she made her home in Wasilla.
Claudia enjoyed oil painting, woodworking, gardening, cooking and flying.
Her family wrote: “Claudia created many beautiful works of art, including her oil paintings, woodworking and sewing. She also enjoyed gardening, raising horses, fishing, hunting and exploring Alaska in her husband’s Super Cub. She also loved watching the wildlife on the lake in front of their home. Her great home cooking brought everyone to the dining room table, making memories to last a lifetime.
Claudia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was happiest being with her family and friends. A strong and independent Alaska woman, whose love for life inspired everyone who knew her. Respected, cherished, and loved by all, Claudia will be deeply missed.”
She is survived by her husband Warren Hutchison, daughter April Growden, grandson William Growden, daughter Sheryl Judkins, granddaughter Amanda Judkins, granddaughter Lacey Judkins, great-granddaughter Lilley Kelley, son and daughter in-law Jack and Darlene Ringus, granddaughter Jessica Ringus, granddaughter Jennifer Ringus, granddaughter Morgan Ringus, sister and brother-in-law Lola and Jim Carlson, sister-in-law Kathryn Hutchison, sister-in-law Marjorie Hutchison, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Claudia was preceded in death by her father Cloyd Parr, mother Jackie Hill and sister Judy Parr.
