July 13, 1987 - November 29, 2025 It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Clay Hein on November 29, 2025, in Port Orchard, Washington. Clay Carrig Hein was born July 13, 1987, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Melvin and Margaret Hein. He lived in Colorado Springs until the family moved to Alaska in 1994. He graduated in 2005 from Colony High School in Palmer, Alaska. He moved to Washington in 2013. He worked in a variety of fields, including on the North Slope of Alaska, construction in Seattle, Washington, and owned his own security business in Port Orchard, Washington. How can we capture in this small space all the life Clay packed into his thirty-eight short years? His was a complex life filled with bad and good, with pain and joy, with heartache and laughter, but always with quick wit, deep emotions, and intense love for the people around him, especially his two wonderful children. Clay leaves behind his parents, Melvin and Margaret Hein in Palmer, Alaska; his sister, Tara Horton and her family in Anchorage, Alaska; his children, Luna Hein and Alistair Hein of Federal Way, Washington; and an extensive network of family and friends who will miss him dearly. There will be two celebrations of life for Clay. One will be held June 14, 2026, in Seattle, Washington, and another on June 21, 2026, in Palmer, Alaska.
