Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Cleon Wendell “Buddy” Jackson, 80, passed away Nov. 23, 2015, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. Buddy was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Nevada Mills, Indiana, to Cleon and Rozena Ewers Jackson. Following high school, he joined the United States Army and served honorably for 24 years before retiring.
Buddy enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, fishing, hunting, reading and traveling. He also liked to build and had built several buildings on his property. He was kind to everyone and was a wonderful family man who will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jackson, of Wasilla; sons, Mike Jackson, of Wasilla, Mark Whitmire, of Fairbanks, Steve Jackson, of Michigan, and Paul Jackson, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sisters, Suzy Baldwin, of Angola, Indiana, Linda Herndon, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; aunts, Iris Thomas, of Angola, Indiana, and Maxine Pardon, of Fort Myers, Florida; uncle, Lynn Munger, of Fremont, Indiana; and numerous extended family and friends.
There’s a big poker table waiting in the sky. The angels have reserved a spot waiting up on high. Our table is now empty in the place you used to sit. But you are now in Heaven not missing Earth a bit. Now in the embrace of your Savior, on Earth you will be missed. You left us many memories of taking all our chips! (Buddy)
Celebration of Life with full military honors will be held on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. at the Wasilla VFW, 301 E. Lake View Ave., Wasilla. Arrangements have been entrusted to Valley Funeral Home.
