Clyde & Hazel Borgford

A Celebration of Life for Clyde and Hazel Borgford will be held 1-6 p.m. Saturday, July 17 at their home, 1100 E. Dan Street, Mile 4 Fairview Loop in Wasilla. The graveside service will be held at noon Monday, July 19 at Ft. Richardson National Cemetery. Those attending the service will need to be at the gate no later than 11:45 a.m. to be in the procession and be escorted to the cemetery.

Clyde Franklin Borgford was born on March 1, 1925 in Seattle, Wash., to Michael and Evelyn (Lull) Borgford. He died on May 17, 2010. Hazel Mae Borgford was born on Sept. 7, 1919 in Corfu, Wash., to Walter and Marvel (Houghton) Cole. She died on Oct. 30, 2006. Clyde and Hazel were married on Dec. 31, 1947. Their ashes will be interred together at Ft. Richardson National Cemetery.

Clyde joined the Navy in July of 1943 and retired on April 1, 1974. He served in World War II on PC 571 and served in the North Pacific, Dutch Harbor, Hawaii, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was a Plank Owner with VP69. Clyde retired as a Chief Petty Officer at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.

In 1980, Clyde and Hazel moved to Alaska, calling Wasilla home. They owned Master Craft Manufacturing in Wasilla from 1980 until 1989.

They are survived by their son, Michael A. Borgford of Wasilla; stepbrother, Patrick Miller of Tacoma, Wash.; cousin, Robert Ryan of Seattle; 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.

They were preceded in death by their sons, David L. Blake and Ronald E. Cole and daughter, Linda Clark.

Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
