Cody Hester passed away March 9, 2010.
He went to heaven to be embraced by God and reunited with his older brother, Brendan, and his younger brother, Wesley. God’s grace has made his body strong and healthy, and he is able to run and do all the things that he was not able to do here on earth.
Cody had a strong will to live. His courage, positive attitude and zest for life were, and will always be, an example for us to live by. During his brief 21 years here on earth, he touched many people’s lives. Cody will be loved, missed and remembered forever; he was so loved by his family and friends.
Cody fought a lifelong illness (muscular dystrophy). He was a shining example of living life to the fullest and a reminder to those around him to be grateful for all of our many blessings.
Cody is survived by his mother, Melissa; step-father, Scott; sister, Haley; and little brother Wyatt. His grandparents are Dane and Patty Shaver and Raymond Thompson. He is also survived by his uncle, Norman, and aunt, Myra Broderick, and cousins, Christy Kepler, Amanda Broderick and Larissa Blum.
Cody was preceded in death by his brothers, Brendan Hester and Wesley Ivanoff.
A viewing will be held Sunday at 2 p.m., followed by a funeral at 3 p.m. at the Valley Funeral Home, 151 E. Herning Ave., in Wasilla.
Memorial donations for the service, flowers and cards are welcome. A small gathering will be held after the service to share favorite stories of Cody.
Cody’s family would like to express its gratitude to everyone for their outpouring of love, sympathy, support and prayers. Thank you.
Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.
