Cody Lee Parry, 26, died Sept. 1, 2012, near Cantwell.

Memorial services are at 1 p.m., Sept. 8, at River of Life Church in Trapper Creek. Pastor Charles Smeltzer will officiate. A viewing was Sept. 6 at the Cremation Society of Alaska in Anchorage.

Cody was born Feb. 22, 1986, in Anchorage to Jackson Morgan and Laura Lee (Shaw) Parry. He grew up and had lived in Trapper Creek. He was employed with R&J Enterprises in Talkeetna as an equipment operator and heavy equipment mechanic.

Cody enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmachining and working on anything to try and get it running. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

“We cannot help but smile when writing about Cody and when talking to his friends and people who knew him you will hear the same comments: ‘He was always happy,’ ‘You could always depend on him’ and ‘Cody was a person you could trust,’” his family wrote. “All of the attributes of a person of strong character that you want in a friend.

“Cody brought out the best in everyone around him and taught others to have a good time. There was rarely a dull moment with Cody, no matter what the activity was, whether it was snowmachining or helping you fix your vehicle, or making sure there was enough firewood for a friend’s birthday bonfire. Cody was always there to help out and you could depend on him to follow it through to the end no matter how long it took — and have a good time doing it. The world is a better place for having a special person like Cody and he will be deeply missed by everyone whose life he touched. In this life, we do not have much time, but life is not meant to be long, only good. Having a family member or friend like Cody is as good as it gets.”

Surviving are his mother, Laura Lee Parry of Trapper Creek; brothers, Jamison Parry of Wasilla and Brandon Parry of Anchorage; grandmother, Jane Shaw of Trapper Creek; grandfather, Jack Parry of Massachusetts; uncles, William Parry of Florida, and Donald Shaw and Paul Shaw, both of Trapper Creek; and aunts, Virginia “Ginny” Hopper of Hanford, Calif., and Bobby Roffo of Massachusetts.

Preceding him in death was his father, Jackson Morgan Parry.

Memorial donations in Cody’s memory can be sent to Laura Lee Parry, P.O. Box 13024 Trapper Creek, AK 99683.
