WASILLA — Engine No. 557 will take the spotlight Sunday morning when members of the National Railway Historical Society will drive out from Anchorage to see the historic restoration underway.
Anchorage is the site of the 2013 National Railway Historical Society Convention Sept. 12 to 22.
The conference will bring some of its 300 attendees to the Valley at 9 a.m., Sept. 22 to observe the restoration project and later visit the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry in Wasilla.
Visit Anchorage estimates the convention’s economic impact to the region at $633,000.
