It can be daunting to look at ingredients and try to find a meal to make out of them, especially if food access is a concern for you or your family. Fear not, because the Student Food Boxes available at Mat-Su College are stuffed with nutritious food and ideas for meal planning!
Another change to make it more convenient is that the boxes have been reorganized. Mat-Su College Advisor Audrey Badger says, “Now, each box is less than half the size, but still has the same amount of food, making it much easier to take home.”
Students can pick up food boxes at several locations around campus, including the main lobby, the Student Government Office, and roaming carts that move around campus.
This project is in partnership with the Mat-Su Food Bank. Students who do not take their classes on campus can go to their local food bank and pick up a box. Students are free to pick up a box as often as they like.
Approximately 44-45% of UAA students report struggling with access to adequate and nutritious food, according to studies by UAA faculty.
