Cora Jeannine Knapp, 63, of Wasilla, died May 17, 2011, at St. Elias Specialty Hospital.
A memorial service is at 11 a.m., Friday, May 20 at Palmer Pentecostal Church with Pastor Herring officiating.
Jeannine was born June 9, 1947, in Whittier, Calif. to Wayne and Cora Hershberger. Jeannine held various jobs, including at the Greater Anchorage Area Borough working in the building department, in hotel management in California and also as a receptionist in Valdez during the start-up of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System.
Jeannine was a member of the Palmer Pentecostal Church and enjoyed her church family. She was an avid reader, loved camping in her motor home, visiting with family and friends, and was a dedicated animal advocate.
Her friend’s wrote, “Jeannine loved animals. Her dogs were her constant companions. Her friends loved her infectious smile and her selfless nature. She will be missed by all who knew her.”
Surviving are her cousin, James Cosper of California; friends — her Alaskan family — the Carrs of Wasilla and the Groundwaters of Valdez; and her church family at the Palmer Pentecostal Church of Palmer.
