Curtis Ellsworth Finch, 64, of Glennallen died April 14, 2008 in Glennallen.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, April 26, at Glennallen Community Chapel with Pastor Nate Weimer officiating.
Finch was born July 29, 1943 in Brainerd, Minn., to Everett and Nora Katherine (Holsapple) Finch. On March 20, 1964 he was united in marriage to Janet Davis in Brainerd, Minn.
Finch spent his working years as a barber, fuel distributor, construction worker on the Trans-Alaska pipeline, and a maintenance man for Copper River School District. His retirement years were spent with his wife visiting his five sons, spread from the Midwest to the West Coast, via a truck and fifth wheel.
In 1964, Curt and Jan Finch came to Alaska with his two brothers, Gary and Louie, looking for work after the largest earthquake to hit North America. After Curt and Jan gave their hearts to Jesus, they moved to Glennallen where they raised their five red-headed sons.
His family wrote, “Curt spent many countless hours in the service of others for the purpose of demonstrating his love of Jesus through action and not just words. His home, belongings, and maintenance skills were always available to anyone who would ask, and always free. He was known as a God-fearing man built on integrity, honesty, and stewardship. Curt loved to garden, hunt, fish, and spend time with his family, sons, and grandchildren.
Finch is survived by five children Curtis Ellsworth Finch Jr. (Angie) of Canadian Lakes, Minn.; Paul Jay Finch (Vicki) of Ashland, Ore.; David Kelly Finch (Shawna) of Kennewick, Wash.; Brent James Finch (Shawna) of Bozeman, Mont.; and Chad Curtis Finch of Fargo, N. D.; 11 grandchildren; four brothers Louis (Delores) Finch of Eagle River, Gary (Cindy) Finch of Brainerd, Michael (Rachel) Finch of Deer River, Minn., and Steve (Becky) Finch of Eagle River; three sisters Carolyn (Jack) Strong of Brainerd, Gayle (Doug) Boucher of Danville, Penn., and Jeanette (Harvey) Kahn of Chugiak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given to the youth ministries through Glennallen Community Chapel.
