Born in the Territory of Alaska, Cindy Kay Woodings, age 69, died in the afternoon of July 23, 2024. She was blessed by a peaceful passing. It’s time to celebrate her life so well-lived, acknowledging those who benefited greatly by her presence in this world.

Cindy, with her siblings Ali and Jenny, thrived in her childhood beneath the Three Sisters of Eklutna. Her parents, Helen and Guy, encouraged Cindy’s love of the outdoors, especially the fine art of car-camping, which the Woodings clan perfected on many trips down the Al-Can.

Cindy felt that the most serendipitous event in her life was sharing adventures with her daughter Claire. The greatest qualities Cindy passed on to Claire were the love of friends, sublime kindness, and unconditional generosity. Cindy loved Claire fiercely and gave her guidance and freedom to be true to herself.

Cindy and her nephews, Zachary and Adrian Baer, kept up and enjoyed each other's company at festive family gatherings. A staunch supporter of her nieces, Anne and Ruby Woodings, she cheered them up, and cheered them on, in school work and sports. She delighted in supplying them with whatever their hearts desired.

Friends are the measure of a person and Cindy’s are legion. Chief among them is Julia Moore and Garth Lenz, BFF’s who shared Cindy’s journey with a passion for fiber and the pursuit of fun. Sally and Peter Hoople will forever be in Cindy’s debt for guiding them on all things Alaskana (one needs to lie down to pick blueberries; one needs to draw a boundary in the sand when clamming).

Cindy was a true polymath as no one has read as much as she, from politics to romance. A great conversationalist and irreplaceable dinner guest will be sorely missed, especially by her book club, LYMNERDS, and by her fiber arts clan. Who do you know that reads novels by perusing the last chapter first! Always ahead of the rest, she now leads us into the Unknown. Above all she was humble, the true hallmark of a good person.

A private gathering will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, share a book with someone, or learn to knit, spin, or weave.
