Dale Eric Sandstrom, 92, passed peacefully from this world on Christmas Day 2022. He was surrounded by loving family members in Crestview, Florida. Born and raised in Stockholm, Maine on February 22, 1930, to Eric and Astrid Sandstrom. Dale traveled to Alaska in 1950 and began a long career building bridges and docks. He returned to Maine and married Janet Lucia Hede, March 10, 1951 and they moved to Alaska in 1952 and enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Dale and Janet lived in Cordova, Anchorage, Willow, Houston and Wasilla and attended and served in several churches. Dale served as Pastor of Willow Chapel. Dale took his first trip to Peru in 1980 and returned several times over the decades forming Kingdom Alliance Ministries LLC to help build 53 churches in the jungles of Peru. Dale spent his 90th birthday in Peru. Dale and Janet are survived by their children, Starr (Sandstrom) and Rob Bynum, Mike and Timi (Stafford) Sandstrom, Tim Sandstrom, Marcia (Sandstrom) and Ken Conn, Polly (Sandstrom) and Jerry Jackson; 14 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Sandstrom and sister, Donna Sandstrom. He is survived by sister, Diane (Sandstrom) Sahler and sister-in-law Cecilia Sandstrom. Dale’s legacy is more than his considerable contribution to the infrastructure of the state of Alaska, it is more than generosity, it is more than a church building, and it is more than his family and friends though they be many. His true legacy can be distilled to how he lived his life as measured by his beloved Lord Jesus Christ. Micah 6:8 He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.
