Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident Dale John Lentz, 44, died Sept. 5, 2007, of complications due to diabetes at Granny’s Downhome Care Center in Wasilla.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 8 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Palmer. Bishop Mike Owens will officiate.
Lentz was born May 16, 1963, in Palmer. He graduated from Palmer High School and lived in Montana from 1992-2007. He moved back to Palmer in February 2007. He worked as an auto parts specialist.
Lentz was affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed motor sports.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 801 W. Fireweed Lane, Suite 103, Anchorage, AK 99503.
Lentz was preceded in death by his mother in 1990 and by his son, Adam Lentz, in 2001.
He is survived by father, Joseph A. Lentz; brothers Nick J. Lentz and Paul B. (JP) Lentz; nephews Douglas, Bryan and Chad; and numerous other friends and relatives.
