Dan R. Sherk, age 64, passed away on Friday, August 19th, 2016 at his home in Anacortes, Washington, surrounded by his loving family after bravely battling years of recurring brain tumors. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Washington, to Lois M. and Vivian L. Sherk, both of whom predeceased him. Dan graduated from Stanwood High School in 1970 and attended Skagit Valley Community College. He went to Alaska in search of his fortune and adventure, living and working in Barrow, Palmer and Wasilla as Superintendent of Maintenance. Dan returned to the PNW in 2002, settling in Anacortes and accepting the position of Facilities Director for Island County. Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Caroline Hutson; daughters, Jasmine U. Sherk of Hillsboro, Oregon, Karma M. Sherk and grandson Logan A. Sherk, of Clarksville, Tennessee; stepdaughter, Lindsay M. Osborne, of the family home in Anacortes; and his two sisters, Kathie Dolton and Monica Kallstrom. Dan loved the outdoors and brought up his daughters in boots, coats, scarves and fishing poles. He worked hard and played hard, and loved his Lord Jesus Christ, with the same dedication. Dan was never happier than being in His nature, out of doors with his family and dogs, fishing, camping, working or just putzing. He was a wonderfully generous husband, father, brother, son, son-in-law and friend. Dan was very loved and will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Saturday, September 3rd at 1 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Stanwood, with cake, salad, coffee, tea and juice to follow. Address: 27201 99th Ave. NW, Stanwood, WA.
